What other customers whom have bought Kindle Fire HD are saying:

The following feedback are from customers whom have bought Kindle Fire HD at Amazon Store

Pros of Kindle Fire HD:
  • Juiceman: "This is my third kindle fire. I own the original, the HD and today I received the newest version. It's by far the best one yet! The screen quality, the new shape of the back, the outside volume controls, the new off and on button....i could go on and on why this one is the best! Thanks to Jeff and the other folks at Amazon that come to market with these great products."
  • Mark: "This kindle is for someone that is on a budget, wants a device to surf the web, reading books, looking at photos, watching movies, playing games, and obviously "facebooking." If you want something more "show off-ie" then this isn't the kindle tablet for you.
Also, keep in mind amazon is an extraordinary company. They are fair priced for almost everything they sell on their website, especially their books. I cannot thank them enough for saving hundreds of dollars on books I need for college. For not being an electronics company like Apple, Samsung Sony etc, they can definitely give those companies a run for their money with their tablets. So thank you amazon for making a very affordable, dependable tablet!"
  • Lockhart: "After spending a couple hours with it my conclusion is this tablet has exceeded my expectations, and is a quality tablet for a budget tablet. I haven't encountered any problems with it and I am a satisfied customer. I like what they have done with the new OS and keeping things simple and inexpensive compared to the competition."

Cons of Kindle Paperwhite:
  • Celexi: "I do wish that Amazon would add the ability to create folders for our books though; scrolling through the full list is annoying if you have more than 100-200 books, and very annoying if you have 1300-1400 like I do. Still a great reader / tablet though! "
  • Mark: "I wish there was a camera and Mic in this kindle so I could Skype with my family. Keeping the price and size in mind you can't really blame amazon. Well, at least the NSA can't see or hear what I'm doing. If you want those features then you can always buy the better version of the kindle."
  • Jennifer: "The price on the Kindles have come down so low, that saving an extra 15 or so to get the Kindle with special offers might not even be appealing. I decided that it couldn't hurt, so I tried it. They are screensavers (full color) that are on the screen each time it powers on/comes up from sleep mode. Right now there are about 10 on mine that rotate: one for a theatrical release (Carrie), one for an amazon series to watch, one for Self magazine, and several books. I was trying to see if there's a way you could block a particular one if it really annoys you, and I don't see how you can do that."

Buying and downloading books for Kindle in Hong Kong 教你如何在香港購買Kindle電子書

Having issue trying to purchase books for your Kindle? Even with Hong Kong not being amongst the countries eligible for wireless Whispernet, it is still possible to purchase Kindle books from Amazon.com.

Here's the steps which prove success for me earlier.
  1. Go to Amazon.com and login into your account. Or the other approach would be to create a new Amazon.com account using a generic email address provider such as gmail or aim.
  2. Go to Borderlinx.com and create an account. You'll get a virtual U.S. address once you have registered.
  3. Go to Amazon.com and purchase a Gift Certificate and email the gift code to your email.
  4. Go to Amazon.com and apply the Gift Certificate to your newly created account in step 1.
  5. Go to Amazon.com and register your Kindle online – To prevent your account from being disable. Don't use the wireless Whispernet on your Kindle to register your account.
  6. Go to Amazon.com and set up 1-Click payment method associated with your Kindle to make the Kindle books button enabled for purchase. Enter your valid credit card number based in Hong Kong, and use the U.S. billing address which was set up earlier in step 2.
  7. Woila!! You should now be able to buy books on the Kindle. Remember to always use the Gift certificate for your next purchase. Go to Manage your Kindle and download your book onto your PC, then transfer it using the USB cable provided.

Which kindle should I buy in Hong Kong?

All e-ink kindle readers do work perfectly in Hong Kong, including those with special offers.
  • The basic Kindle is the light version for starter. It has same e-ink display as kindle touch. There's no physical keyboard. Navigation and typing have to be done using 5-way controller. Battery life lasts for 1 month and no support for audio files and text-to-speech. This kindle is perfect for pure readers who only use kindle to read.
  • The Kindle Touch is top-of-the-line kindle available right now. It has full options including touch screen, text-to-speech and longer battery life (2 months). Also featured on kindle touch is "X-ray" which allows you to scan a character, historical figures, and interesting phrase. With touch screen, you can easily surf the web, take notes, or look up words on your kindle.
  • Kindle Touch 3G has additional 3G connection which allow you to download e-books without WiFi connection. 3G is free in over 100 countries. It's perfect for travelers or those who love convenience.
  • Kindle Touch with special offers comes with advertisement, so it has lower price. Ads will be displayed as screensaver and on bottom of home screen. It works just like the ad-free version in Hong Kong.
You may need to look around the U.S. kindle store and see how people are saying about them before choosing your kindle.

What other customers whom have bought Kindle Touch are saying:
The following feedback are from customers whom have bought Kindle Touch at Amazon Store

Pros of Kindle Touch:
  • Luciano Chavez: "The touch screen is very responsive. The slightest tap does what you want. Sometimes it seems I barely even have to touch the screen and it responds. Again, very much like the touch screen on my phone."
  • Scott: "Storage - Same 4gb storage as on the K3, which will hold roughly 3,000 books. The average 500 page book is around 500kb. Considering this device also comes with access to Amazon's cloud storage for saving backups, I think it's very unlikely anyone would ever need to store more than 3,000 books. If your device is getting full, just back up your old books to the cloud, and they're there if you ever want them again. 3,000 books on your Kindle makes things rather difficult to manage unless you have everything sorted into separate folders."
  • Scott: "Wi-Fi - I originally ordered the 3G version of the Touch, then cancelled when I realized I almost never used it. if you have access to a computer it is so much easier to download a lot of books at once so you always have something available to read when you finish your current book. You can save a lot of money by foregoing the 3G option. If you don't have wireless, you can always transfer books through the USB."

Cons of Kindle Touch:
  • Writingtired: "The Kindle Touch touchscreen does have a slight delay, but it's definitely not a late 90s ATM. It's a delay, but just long enough for you to demonstrate a slight bit of patience (and to be honest, if you're an avid reader, patience is probably a virtue you can easily put into practice. There's a reason you're reading a book and not watching a movie.)"
  • Michael Gallagher: "The on/off button is not a slider like previous versions of Kindles, but is a push-button. You have to make a deliberate "push" with the button to make it go to sleep vs. sometimes my KKB model will bump against my shirt or jeans and hit the sleep mode in the middle of the page. I think this is an improvement."
  • Oldtimer: "It is entirely too easy to buy e-books. You can spend $50 on books and have them in 5 minutes. You must learn to ration your purchases."
